7 Best Yoga Music Albums of All Time

Here are my top yoga music albums, in no particular order. In order to qualify, the album had to be playable from start to finish (in other words, no annoying tracks you have to skip). Also, these albums withstood the test of time — a year or more later, I still love them.

Some are suitable for gentle yoga, others for a more vigorous practice. Check them out:

  1. Donna De Lory - The Lover and the Beloved: Donna has recorded with Madonna, and she has a powerful presence and delightful voice in her own right. She has a few albums, this one in the electro-kirtan genre. (download mp3 here)
  2. Ben Leinbach - The Spirit of Yoga: This is a dense, rich understated album you can play over and over, and like the Yoga Sutras, find new delicacies in it each time. (download mp3 here)
  3. Maneesh de Moor - Sadhana: I found this one on a fluke while looking up different meanings of the word sadhana. Great album for yoga, rich and varied, it will reside in my mp3 player forever! (download mp3 here)
  4. Jonathan Goldman - Chakra Chants: Subdued but powerful, it goes straight to work on the subtle body.
  5. Jai Uttal - Dial M for Mantra: Funky, groovy, no-holds-barred, let-your-prana-flow feel-good music. This has been the only CD in my car for 5 months straight, it just doesn’t get old. (download mp3 here)
  6. Wah! - Best of Wah!: Wah! has lots of great albums, this takes the best of the best and puts it in one place, saving you the trouble. (download mp3 here)
  7. Krishna Das - Greatest Hits of the Kali Yuga: No yoga music list is complete without KD. I just couldn’t make up my mind which album is best, so here’s his “best of.” (download mp3 here)

Honorable mentions:
Anugama, Deva Premal, Anoushka Shankar, Hein Braat (often confused for the Dalai Lama), Liquid Mind, Steven Halpern, David Darling, Prem Joshua, Jami Sieber, and many others.

Dr. Mercola, good to see you here. We met several years ago at a copywriting conference in Delray. I trust your quest against cooking in aluminum is still going strong.
